Below is a project update to the Kickstarter backers. I am reposting it here in case they see this first…
Project Update #18: Finished the walk across Turkey, writing the books now
Posted by Matt Krause
Hello all,
Just a quick update on the Walking Turkey project…
I finished the walk across Turkey on schedule, on Saturday, 13 April. On the final day of the walk I was joined by some friends from Istanbul, Ankara, Tarsus, Van, and Italy. It was an amazing day, made all the more amazing when we were joined by Gerdi Quist, a woman who had ridden her bicycle across Turkey, and was crossing the border into Iran that day. By the way, she is blogging about her journey at http://onroute55.com. She has limited access to the blog while she is in Iran, but her son in Europe is helping her keep it updated.
Anyway, I am back in Istanbul now and have started writing the books that will emerge from the walk. Starting this weekend, on Sunday evenings at 6pm I am holding “gym sessions,” where I’ll be in a public place (the Starbucks in front of Sisli’s Cevahir AVM) to tell stories about the trip to anyone who comes, and together we will work out the kinks in the stories and decide what does and does not go into the books. If you are in Istanbul and are free on Sunday evenings, come join me. My cell is +90 535 680 9680.
Again, thank you so much for your support. This has been an exciting project so far, and the walk may be done, but the project is only halfway over.
Best regards,
Matt
