I’m in Bozkurt tonight, camping out at a (yes, you guessed it) gas station.

Which means I’m up on the plateau now. I’m really excited about that, I’ve been looking forward to this transition for months.

The transition was even more dramatic than I had expected. Over the space of only a quarter mile (half a kilometer), the road flattened and the scenery (mountains, etc) changed almost instantly. Nature was leaving no question that the plateau had begun.

I don’t have any pictures yet, since I was pushing the pace right up until sunset to get here and find a place to crash before dark.

I love the cooler weather up here, too. I’ve been sleeping on top of my bag (as opposed to inside it) almost all night recently, and I can’t wait to snuggle into it right from the start in a few minutes. Small pleasures.
