South of Konya I stopped for lunch, a very typical meal for me, fasulye ve pilav (beans and rice). I was waited on by Esat, the restaurant owner’s son. As I paid the tab Esat told me he had seen me the night before on the local TV news.
A. I don’t know who is spreading the word about my walk, but thank you, and B. I wish these TV stations and newspapers would contact me beforehand, maybe I could help them flesh out their stories a bit. It’s not like I’m hard to find.
By the way, in this photo I look like I’m growing a huge belly, but I’ve just cinched up my pack’s waist straps tight. Really, I swear.
