Am back in Horsunlu for a bit of rest. Got an unexpected invitation to join Huseyin and his family for dinner. In attendance were Huseyin, his wife, his cousin, his cousin’s fiancĂ©, his grandmother, his aunt, and another family member, a small boy whose name I did not catch.

We had a delicious dinner, sitting together on the floor in the living room, eating from a tray of communal dishes.

After dinner we settled our stomachs with Turkish coffee. Conversation ranged from politics and religion to cities I should see and those I should avoid. Huseyin saw me admiring family photos on the wall, so he brought out a box of old family photos and we looked at those.

My gut tells me to let other observations stew for a while. Maybe they’ll come out in the book(s), or in some other venue.

Thank you so much to the entire family for the invitation. The food was delicious and you have no idea how much your family atmosphere meant to this particular traveler a long ways from home. Elinize saglik (health to your hands)!
